FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

Since last month, Avon-Miami has been at labor every Wednesday either for
a degree, stated meeting, or a degree rehearsal. We have conferred Entered
Apprentice degrees on Brothers Kurt Kastner and Andrew Barnes, and we have
been busy practicing for our Inspection on April 23 in the Fellowcraft degree.
Avon-Miami Lodge also felt a great loss in March with the passing of a good
friend and Brother Irv Lautman.

The end of March was a time for a little spring cleaning—and clean we did,
uncovering some of our Lodge's records dating back to the early days of
Miami #46. I owe a debt of gratitude to Brothers Lester Wolpa, P.M.; David
Simmons, P.M.; David Tessel, P.M.; Ken Simmons, J.D.; Chris Omeltschenko, S.D.;
Ron Bluestein, J.W.; Gary Merkowitz, Treasurer; and Ben Rosenfield, S.S., for
giving up their Saturday and coming in to clean us up again. The Lodge's social
calendar is all filled up for May, and we hope you can join us at the Mother's
Day Cruise on the BB Riverboat on May 11 and the annual Blood Drive on May 14.
More information will come in the mail. And don’t forget: June 29 marks the
return of our annual family picnic.

We're working on holding a degree at the Masonic Center downtown in celebration
of Miami Lodge's 190th anniversary. When we have more information, we will be
sure to pass it along. I will also at this month's stated meeting be announcing
a committee to begin planning for Avon-Miami Lodge's 125th anniversary. If you're

But most importantly, Brethren, with our inspection date closing in, I would like
to invite all of you to attend—even if you haven’t been to Lodge in a while. Come on
back and see us at our best on April 23! Your officers and Lodge need your support.
